Rebuild Committee – Architects Appointed

Posted on: 26 July

Hi Members

The Rebuild Committee approached 10 architects to submit an expression of interest in being an integral part of the Clubhouse design and rebuild. Of the 10 architects approached, 8 responded. This group was then then put through a rating process to select the best 4.

The group of 4 (Pop Architecture; Sense of Space/Agents of Architecture; Inarc & Architecture Caisson) presented before the Rebuild Committee, with each having the potential and capability to take on this important and club defining project.

The group was finally narrowed down to two. They both gave extensive presentations providing examples of previous work, as well as examples and images of the design concept they had visualised for the Gisborne Golf club.

Following the extensive, detailed, and exhaustive selection process, Pop Architecture is the firm we have chosen to run with. Their attention to detail, the quality of their people, their design vision and foresight was superior to all other architects. Work has commenced on the design and the first stage, Concept Design, is expected to be complete by the end of August. We expect to have commenced building in March 2025, with completion in 2nd Quarter of 2026.

These are very exciting times for the Golf club as we bury the memories of the devastating fire in the ashes of the past and look to the future. We are committed to becoming more than just a golf club; we are focused on designing a facility which caters for both our passionate members and the broader regional community.

Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, so do our emotions as we finally start the move forward.

The photo below is not the agreed design, but a precedent example of what could be possible.
