Herbert the Tawny Frog Mouth

Posted on: 12 November

Hi Members

While out playing a casual 9 holes on Friday, a group of our women members saw a tiny bird being attacked by a group of magpies on the 8th Fairway.

The group of Joycelyn Moreland, Barb Grbac, Christine Barraclough and Brigitte Marsh went and rescued “Herbert” from the attacking mob, and got him safely to the office.

Herbert was picked up by a wildlife carer, and was taken to rescue centre to be nursed back to health.

Tawny Frogmouths are notorious for making bad nests, and their fledglings falling out. Herbert will be released in the coming days back close to where he was found, in the hope that his parents will sight him and he will join them back in the nest.

Great job ladies.
