Hi Members

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Life Member John Wilson on Friday the 28th of June, 2024. John passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

John joined the club on the 1st of April 1979, and for many years worked along side George Rich (another long time member who has passed) using the old method of calculating handicaps with nothing more than their maths education and a calculator. He then moved onto the computer era, writing his own software to assist with handicapping prior to the introduction of MiGolf.

In his latter years, due to the onset of Parkinsons Disease, John found it difficult in day to day competitions, but insisted on driving his ever faithful Mazda 3 to the club, assisting the captain in conducting scoring and handicapping on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday’s for all comps and special events. 

R.I.P John, golf will not be the same and say hello to Percy Schlossberger, your sidekick in the handicap room.
